User guide

This page explains how to use the Orchestrated 5G Service Provisioning workflows in Airflow.

Step 1. Start from Airflow

  1. Open the Airflow web UI at http://127.0.0.1:8080 or your Airflow base URL.
  2. Confirm the DAGs create_5g_cell, create_5g_core, and create_5g_basic are visible.
  3. Set the desired DAG to active.

Step 2. Create a 5G cell

  1. Trigger the create_5g_cell DAG.
  2. Fill in the cell name, gNodeB, radio unit, band, PLMN, TAC, PCI, and other required fields.
  3. Submit the form and wait for the DAG to run.
  4. The DAG will generate Amarisoft radio configuration, upload it over SSH, and register the new 5g.cell resource in Maat.

Step 3. Create a 5G core

  1. Trigger the create_5g_core DAG.
  2. Fill in the core name, core device, PLMN, NSSAI, PDN settings, and other required fields.
  3. Submit the form and wait for the DAG to run.
  4. The DAG will generate Amarisoft core configuration, upload it over SSH, and register the new 5g.core resource in Maat.

Step 4. Create a basic 5G service

  1. Trigger the create_5g_service_basic DAG.
  2. Select an available 5g.cell and 5g.core from the Maat inventory.
  3. Provide a service name and submit.
  4. The DAG will validate the selected resources and register a service entry that links the cell and core.

Step 5. Monitor progress

  1. Use the Airflow UI to inspect task run details.
  2. Check logs for any validation or deployment errors.
  3. Confirm the new resources and service appear in Maat after the DAG completes.

Notes

  • The current implementation supports Amarisoft as the 5G hardware and software target. However, the workflow design can be extended to other 5G platforms by replicating and adapting the Amarisoft deployment steps to your 5G suite of choice.

Video demonstration

The following video displays a demo of this orchestrated 5G service provisioning lab. It first presents an overview of the data model. Then the DAGs to manage 5G resources and the final service are executed while showing the outcomes in Maat and in the Amarisoft box used for the demo.
